Magellan is in an exciting growth period and you’re invited aboard.

Exciting changes are underway at Magellan! Our new 14-acre Bull Creek Campus is now open, serving Kindergarten through 10th grade, with plans to add one grade each year through 12th grade. Graduates will earn the prestigious IB Diploma.Starting fall 2024, non-Spanish-speaking students are welcome to apply beginning in sixth grade.

In spring 2025, we opened our new state-of-the-art northwest campus, expanding to include a fifth PP3 class to meet growing demand.

Magellan is a unique school in Austin and nation-wide. Here are a few examples of what makes us special.

We are one of just four schools in the nation, and the only in Texas, to offer the full International Baccalaureate Program* with Spanish Language immersion.
We are the only secular independent school in Austin to offer this programming.

We are growing. We moved to a new Kinder through high school in Northwest Austin in fall 2024, as well as an expanded Preschool in Spring of 2025.

Does my child have to know Spanish?

If starting in Preschool through Kindergarten, no Spanish background is required.
If starting in 1st - 5th grade, students will need to be able to read and write in Spanish at their grade level. Applicants will spend a half day on campus and during their visit they will be given a grade-level Spanish assessment to determine their eligibility for entrance.
If starting in grades 6 or higher, no Spanish is required through our flexible English program.

What is International Baccalaureate?
The International Baccalaureate is a set of challenging programs that aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

An IB education provides opportunities to develop both disciplinary and transdisciplinary understanding through curriculum frameworks and courses that are broad and balanced, conceptual and connected. The program provides an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education and is recognized by universities worldwide.
